We're off to eat at Fabulous Fern's  in St. Paul and then on to the Xcel Energy Center for a James Taylor and Carole King concert. I've listened to their Troubadour Reunion cd a couple of times and it will be exciting to see these two legends together live.  I do hope the Xcel is powered up to full air-conditioning capacity as it's 88 degrees outside with a humidity of about 40 percent.  That's hot baby.  Looking forward to a nasty thunderstorm to blow this weather on down the road.

We did take time to enjoy the summer weather a bit this morning at the dog park.  It really was a beautiful start to the day despite the dog days of summer heat.

Wally enjoyed fetching sticks and the coolness of the grass in the shade.

Lily tried to cool off in the little water dish.

Tomorrow it's back to work for a couple of days and then time to enjoy another long weekend.

Dr. Kevorkian....table for one!

It's been a confusing couple of weeks.  Ever since watching Food Inc. I've questioned everything I put into my mouth.  Not that questioning is a bad thing, but having a goal of not eating anything with high fructose corn syrup in it is proving to be a bit challenging (and impossible).  Even my beloved graham crackers contain the stuff. But, reading labels is good, staying out of the supermarket is good, eating food close to the earth is good, buying local is good....it just takes more time and thought then I tend to want to put into these things.  So, I'm dealing with that one day at a time.  Okay, so a few days later I get the results of my health assessment.   I'll just get this out of the way real quick.  I'm a physical wreck.

We'll miss you Molly Brown

Tom and Stacy got the worse news about their 2 year old yellow lab Molly.
She is suffering from a painful form of bone cancer.

Molly will be a puppy forever.

You will be long remembered Miss Molly.
So, we say our goodbyes to Molly - she will leave us on Wednesday, May 19th.

Roseanne is hosting a concert in the park!

My friend Roseanne likes to bid on items at auctions. Her latest generous charity contribution included the use of the beautiful new band shell at Central Park.  So...she's planning a concert!  With any luck it will be a beautiful warm and sunny afternoon. See you there! (Click on the flyer to enlarge)

Trip around the river on Mother's Day

It was a beautiful day for a drive around Lake Pepin.
We waited for a train to go under the bridge we were standing on.

Sadly, we never saw one.

The sun on the lake was beautiful.

Loved this little hide-a-way garden we discovered in Alma.

This little brown chick had a lot to say as she guarded her next.
