A rose

ROSES
You love the roses - so do I. I wish
They sky would rain down roses, as they rain
From off the shaken bush. Why will it not?
Then all the valley would be pink and white
And soft to tread on. They would fall as light
As feathers, smelling sweet; and it would be
Like sleeping and like waking, all at once!

Fall color in Michigan

Not yet peak in Michigan, but a beautiful beginning...
The last of the buttercup squash came home with me to Minnesota.
The big ones have already been harvested. They are delicious!
Jacob getting his home work done late Sunday night.

Beautiful colors around the yard.

A big friendly dog makes a great companion in the woods!

Sunday in Michigan

Plenty of food and drink for all the hard workers...
The view of the new deck from the edge of the woods.
The deck crew - floor is in!
One deck off the master bedroom with a walkway to the main deck.
Great crew!

Saturday

Greg's friends gather to cut down some trees in his woods.
Jacob helps out with the mowing.

The dogs all gather to greet a friend coming up the drive.
My favorite pastime when I visit - walking the drive way with Lisa and the dogs!
Buster racing to give me a friendly greeting.
A view from the road.

We have lots of cooking to do for all the help coming.
The walk back to the house...very peaceful place even
with all the guys working in the woods around us.
They are chopping enough wood to last the winter.

Coming home in Kalamazoo...

The return home from the hospital - a great day!
The beautiful river behind Greg and Lisa's house.

Jacob!
The lake in front of Greg and Lisa's house.

Waiting...

It's fun to watch Jacob cook his own supper.
